Reverse Osmosis

Reverse Osmosis (RO) functions by the use of a high pressure pump to increase the pressure on the salt side of the RO and force the water across the semi-permeable RO membrane, that leaves about 95% to 99% of dissolved salts behind in the disposable reject stream.

As shown above, an RO uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and other larger particles from drinking water.
